Halton SEND Co-production Charter

Co-production is in our hands

Halton SEND Strategic Improvement Board would like all partners to use this Co-production Charter to encourage all children, young people and their families to engage with us, so together we can co-produce, design, develop and review SEND services in Halton. This will help to ensure that the best possible outcomes can be achieved for families and children.

Through the introduction of the Halton SEND Co-production Charter, we recognise the need to work better together to improve more inclusive, person-centred approaches and ethos.

The review work of the Halton Local Offer is led by the Halton SEND Strategic Improvement Board and working groups in co-production with parents, carers and young people.  As well as this, feedback on the Local Offer from local parent/carer groups, colleagues and professionals is sought at every opportunity.

Delivering the virtual training sessions ‘Getting to Grips with the Local Offer’ remains our most popular avenue to receive direct feedback and suggestions for improvement on the Local Offer.  These sessions have provided the best opportunity to work with parent/carers and professionals to review and improve the Local Offer in bitesize areas to ensure the information is more robust, comprehensive and accessible.

Local Offer Requests Policy Statement

Halton’s Approach

The content, sources and signposting information on Halton’s Local Offer is by feedback or referral from parents/carers, children and young people, or from a colleague or professional based in one of our LOCAL multi-agency partners and service providers.

Being included on Halton’s Local Offer does not mean that Halton Borough Council endorses a particular service or source of information, other than it has been recommended through feedback to be helpful to others.  This includes providing information and/or details of services that are often free for children, young people and their families to access.  Please refer to the online Disclaimer for more information.

We include support, advice and reference to national and regional services where relevant, to meet the needs of Halton’s children, young people and families.

For email requests that have not come via one of the above routes:  Where appropriate, advice is sought from colleagues based on their specialist expertise.  For example, suitably appropriate services/providers that are accessible on a daily basis across the North West and meet the specific needs of the individual.

Based on the information above, we believe that we have complied with our duty to promote ‘other provision’ in order to meet local needs.

The Policy Statement above is subject to change depending on guidance issued by the Department for Education
