About the Halton Local Offer

Co-production of the Halton Local Offer

Halton Local Offer is a user-friendly website providing information across different topics including, education, health and social care for children and young people with SEN and/or disabilities.

It is developed and reviewed regularly co-produced with children, young people, parents, carers and professionals.  ‘The Parable of Blobs and Squares‘ explains more about ‘co-production’ through a short video animation, we hope you will find this helpful.

Update on the current review and development of the Halton Local Offer

From May 2020, a working group of young people from Bright Sparks and Halton Children in Care Council, parents and carers from Halton SEND Carer Forum and professionals from Halton SENDIASS, Halton Borough Council – Education and Children’s Services, Halton NHS CCG and Halton Speak Out began detailed review work of the Halton Local Offer.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, some of this work has been undertaken on a ‘virtual’ basis including Zoom meetings and some work with a group of young people has taken place by carefully following COVID-19 secure ‘socially distanced’ meeting.  The sections of the Halton Local Offer have updated and a new top menu/header in purple has been introduced to help improve the access to information.

The review work of the Halton Local Offer began prior to the development of a new Halton SEND Strategy 2021-2025, which is due to be launched next year in 2021.

The work currently in progress through the SEND Strategy Task and Finish Group is helping to take forward the ongoing review work of the Halton Local Offer.  These areas of work are overseen by the SEND Strategic Group, with all members having signed up as Champions of the Halton Local Offer to:

  • promote, sign-post and help other people to use or find information on the Halton Local Offer
  • identify any missing information, suggestions, feedback or website issues experienced in completing this role
  • help ensure information remains current and accessible
